For over 125 years, the Bunnahabhain distillery has produced some of the finest, most distinctly-flavoured single malt whiskies. Founded in 1881 on the northern shore of Islay, the Bunnahabhain distillery has, over time, taken great care in nurturing and producing a spirit that is milder than most other spirits from Islay.
Perhaps the rolling hills of Bunnahabhain or the crystal waters of the Bunnahabhain Bay have played a role. Or perhaps it is the quiet, unassuming way of Islay life that has helped create such a taste.
The true spirit of Bunnahabhain has malted and matured to offer a 31 year old single malt available exclusively from Single & Single. With only 500 individually numbered bottles for sale, the Bunnahabhain offers a fine drinking experience for any whisky lover.
‘Whisky is liquid sunshine.’ – George Bernard Shaw
The new creations are generally high in alcohol content and are casked to mature in American Oak, often for a very long time. Entering the cask as a clear liquid, almost as clear as the Margadale spring water used in its creation, the single malt takes on a personality and flavour of its own, often affected by the sea-exposed warehouses where the casks are stored.
The Bunnahabhain 31 year is ‘an enticing whisky enjoying its senior years with effortless grace. Remarkably fresh on the palate, with a clean attack of intense honeycomb emerging through the dense maltiness. A refreshing tang of brininess, interwoven with sweet cinnamon, delivers a long, luxurious finish. A truly outstanding Bunnahabhain.’
The casks have often contained Sherry or Bourbon, and the remnants of these flavours play an important role in flavouring the Bunnahabhain. |
