Expression: Bowmore 8 year, 2000
This Expression is from the Bowmore Distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland and located on the south-eastern shores of Loch Indaal on the Hebridean Island of Islay. Founded in 1779, Bowmore has become distinctly recognisable in its final character, which is greatly influenced by the distillery’s close proximity to the sea and the renowned bad weather and mist that engulfs the Island from the North Sea.
Maturing for only 8 years, just 890 bottles of the Single & Single Bowmore 8 year will be available for sale.
Unlocking a symphony of wild, youthful flavour, the Bowmore has been described as ‘sea spray and wet tar combined with a hint of bitter lemon. The peat is fresh and eager, bursting with sweet smoke and vanilla. This young Bowmore has plenty of vigour and considerable panache on the finish.’
Hailing from one of the few distilleries that actually produce their own floor malted barley using traditional methods, the Bowmore 8 year is a true Islay single malt whisky. Watered by the Laggan River, the whisky draws on the Islay Peat to offer an almost medicinal taste that reveals hints of seaweed and salt and smokey peat to conclude its personality as young, courageous and hardcore.
